Melissa has not been on a horse since Ivanhoe put her in the hospital 6 years ago. I was surprised to see her hop on Jillian and give her a go. Jillian has not had someone on her in a very long time due to some health issues. No helmet, no breeches and socks instead of boots, you can only guess how thrilled I was to see her get on a horse again LOL THANK YOU STEPH more to follow tomorrow

We are in Lodi California
We are at Stephanies house in Lodi. She has a historical home on a big piece of property with walnut and cherry trees. The house is about 150 years old and looks like one of those plantation homes with the wrap around pourch. I will take some pics today.
We are going to settle in and then go see my mom today at the nursing home.

We made it to California
We are in Redding. It took a full day of driving in the pouring rain to get here and as soon as we crossed the state line into California it stopped raining and the sun came out. It sure does feel like home
We are going to head down to Lodi tomorrow to a friends house and that will be our base for a time to get organized and figure out our next move.
I will check in from there

We are in Prince George BC
Teslin Lake Sunrise
We have stopped in Prince George and will leave here Friday am and head to Vancouver. Erin Green you need to let me know if you want us to stop at Mom and Dads house and pick up anything....sorry cant pick up any horses for you but any smaller items we would be happy to bring you LOL
Melissa almost hit a deer today on the way here and it scared the heck out of us. The little peckers are as bad as the damn ones in NJ!!!!! Jump out of the trees right in front of you.
We decided not to tow the car because it was so hard on the RV and the car towing it up through Canada because the roads are so bad so I have not taken many pics. The Video below (if I can get it to load) is of Buffalo that are along the road. Keep in mind I was driving while trying to video with the dogs in the car barking at them. At the end of the video one started to run toward the car so I had to punch it. God this is fun stuff!
video is a no go will try again tomorrow

greetings from BC
Beverly broke down on the Alaska Highway a few days ago and we were lucky enough to have really nice guy stop that happed to be a mechanic. He also happened to grow up 20 miles from me in California...small world isnt it? He said she needed a new alternator and he would install it for us for free if we went and picked up the part. So we parked her next to a beautiful lake in the middle of no where British Colombia and headed 3 hours to get the part, which was in stock (thank goodness) and it took him 20 minutes to put it in, then we were on our way. We were so lucky that he happened to stop and was willing to help.
The drive up to that point and the remaining few hours here was another difficult drive with all of the wildlife on the road. We saw heards of wild horses, bison and caraboo on and next to the road. We would round a corner or over a hill and here would be animals standing in the road. I think we are past most of that now or at least hope we are past it LOL
Tomorrow we will head to Prince George then down to Vancouver. Today is a down day so I can send resumes and follow up on some sent. (I have to be a good girl and look for work)
I will keep everyone posted on our progress . Below I tried to post a short video to show how fun the animals are....will keep trying

we are in Canada
The past few days have been a little scary!!!! We had to delay leaving Alaska because a storm came in suddenly and had wind gusts of 75mph. OMG I thought the RV would tip over. We stayed at the campground we were at and faced the RV into the wind and hung on. It lasted about 24 hours and we were a little worried. Then it ended as fast as it started.
We left Sat am and headed for Tok Alaska. We saw lots of Moose and Elk on the drive up.
This morning we left Tok in a hurry because of a Winter Storm warning predicting 5 inches of snow in the area. We crossed the boarder into Canada around noon then we made it as far as Whitehorse and have stopped here for the night. The drive over the mountain scared the hell out of me because no only was the road really bad (either not paved or pot holes as big as a house) it also had snowed the night before so it was icy and slushy. YIKES but we are safe. Crystal said it snowed there today so I think it is really good we left when we did or we would not have gotten out of Alaska till next spring LOL
We are safe and will check in again soon

Kaplan Lake in Palmer Alaska
Kaplan Lake
Kaplan Lake
Same pic as above ....I uploaded it twice and couldnt remove it LOL, so here it is again
The tempatures are starting to drop down so it is time to get the heck out of town. We are packing today and will leave in the am to Tok Alaska for the night then over the boarder to the Yukon. I am NOT looking forward to the trip back down through the Yukon. The roads are really bad so you have to go really slow or you bottom out. It will be two days of hell then we will be in BC and the roads will be much better.
We are going to stop in Grey Wells Povinicial Park near Clearwater BC then will be in Whistler the following day then will spend a few days in Vancouver.
We had such a good time here and would love to stay if it didnt turn into the frigid freezing yucky winter that is coming fast.
I will check in from Canada

more pics time in Alaska.. Bears Denali National Park
Grizzley Bear mama and two cubs
Big bad bear
We had rain when we went through Denali so the pictures did not come out very good. We saw the most beautiful landscape in Denali. The fall colors were in and it was a sea of yellow, orange and red. We encountered 9 bears...some pics above. I tell ya it gets the heart racing when a BIG Grizzley in near. I was just a little scared! Denali does not allow personal vehicle into the park so you have to take a shuttle bus. It was so worth it and I understand why.
Still in Alaska
Crystal hauling kayak to the Glacier lake
Wierd children.....they kayak out to the glacier in bare feet and tank tops while all the tour boats are filled with people wrapped in winter gear. They act like they are in Hawaii
Melissa eating a chunck of Glacier.... I dont know why
Portage Glacier Ice Burg
Portage Glacier Melissa
Portage Glacier Crystal
Portage Glacier Crystal

I see sun after 3 weeks of solid rain!!!!
hey all please excuse typing I already have taken my contacts out LOL
it finally stopped raining here so I am puppy sitting so Crystal and Missy can take the Kayak to Seward and Homer for a 3 day weekend of sun and water. Crystal and Garrett have a 7 month old great dane and so I volunteered to stay home with all the dogs, the cats and ferret
They called and said they saw a pod of whales on the way down this morning in the Cook inlet. They said about 30 in the pod and that they looked like Baluga ? (not sure of spelling I have to goggle it when I am done here.)
They decided to kayak on a glacier lake near Whittier on the way to Sewerd and said they had a great time. They both said that their arms and shoulders are hurting from the 3 hour kayak. I have to laugh when they whine about it because they are starting to realize they are not 16 any more. Sucks to get old!
They are excited that their hotel is walking distance to the local pub in downtown Seward so my guess is they are not going to make an early start tomorrow what is your guess???
Garrett gets back home on the 24th so it will be good to see him. We are planning to spend some time with him then start the trip back down to the "lower 48" as they are called here. I think we will go through the west coast of BC on the way down and see Vancouver. We really have no made and firm plans yet.
Did I mention how happy I am that it stopped raining????I am so sick of the rain....last summer we were here 10 days and no rain...this year we are here 3 weeks and it rained every day.
I will follow with more pics once I get the camera from Melissa.
We have a Glacier Lake called Eklutna Lake about 10 miles from here so that is our place to go walk the dogs and swim Tye when we get a small break in rain. It is an 8 mile long lake with a biking walking trail cut along its shore so it makes a great walk for all of us. The pics were taken last week on one of our hikes there.
I will follow up with more pics from the girls when they get back.
